E10 fuel! Lots of phone calls asking can you use it in my Mercedes!?
E10 fuel can be used in pretty much most models according to the GOV website, the GOV website says it wouldn’t recommend it in classic cars “older than 25 years old” personally I would say 20 to be on the safe side.
E10 fuel has been listed as not good for the om271 CGI engine so if you own a CGI engine stick to e5 fuel which yes is now the higher octane more expensive fuel.
However the government website states it is not excepting any responsibility should any vehicles come across any issues using the new E10 fuel, i cant imagine they have thoroughly tested E10 on all vehicles and engines over lets say 50,000 miles so for me it is still untested in the real world and personally i would give it a year or so and watch the complaints unravel. ‘since using E10 fuel’
AMG drivers, well you should be running your vehicle on high octane fuel anyway as AMG recommends 98 octane in your power house so nothing should change here unless you are driving your super car on Super cheap fuel 🤷🏼♂️ ⛽️
And if your still not sure just use E5 as it is still for sale but now is the premium fuel so yes it costs more. Mercedes are luxury vehicles so what not put the best fuel in?
So to round it up if the government isn’t excepting any responsibility should anything effect your car using E10 fuel then neither am i! so i cannot say weather you should or shouldn’t use it, you can only go off government guidelines. I have linked the GOV website below where you can check your own vehicles and make your own decision, above is my own opinion on the matter with it being such a frequent question.
Hope this helps.
